Changing the diet
And what if your dog, cat or ferret is not already used to eating raw meat?
Don't panic!
Here are the keys to manage the transition:
- Don't mix kibble and raw meat
- Fast your animal 12-24h before starting (maximum 12h for a puppy, cat or ferret)
- Start with chicken or turkey, with one or two vegetables (carrots or carrot/courgette mix). If you would like a mix that is already prepared, choose our Nova Canis Starter, which has been specially designed for transitions and is enriched with brewer's yeast, chicory root and green clay, which positively impact digestion.
- You can integrate os charnus (meaty bones) once their digestion is progressing well. (They will have small, hard stools) Choose a meaty bone that is big enough to teach them to crunch as if it's too small, your dog may swallow it!
- Give them just one type of viande (meat) for 10-15 days. Then once they are digesting that well, you can add a new type each week.
